My life on the Treadmill
by cult classic ini was born in 1970 to third generation jehovah's witnesses.
like all those born in, i was brought up without hope or guidance for a life in this world.
instead of being taught to be self sufficient and confident, i was trained to obey my parents without question (ephesians 6:1).

Elder called last night and they are stopping by tonite for a 'visit'.......
by troubled mind insurprised me that he actually followed up on his word and called .
it will be strange after four yrs.
to have them in our house .my husband was not happy to hear it will be two brothers coming over, because he really does not want to feel we are being counseled .

I think if you allow them into your home you are giving them power. Do you really want to do that? You have control of your own life now.

I can't afford to buy an Egg McMuffin and coffee every morning.

No I don't believe anyone here has been permanently warped by the Borg any more than your parents could do the same to you.
by gubberningbody inyou are who you are so much more due to your own peculiar genetic inheritance, and this is what eventually prevails.. there was a longitudinal study i read a number of years ago that tested the idea that we all have inborn "happiness setpoints".
these people in the study were followed through 20-25 years and periodically examined as regards their self-reported measures of happiness.
the finding was that no matter what happened either positively or negatively in their lives, within 8-12 weeks they were universally back to their baseline.. this means a couple of things:.

Thanks, cult classic. Treadmill is correct. That's what I still see in my JW extended family. I was a born-in and I relate to much of what you have written especially about not having any other childhood, past or memories that were not JW. But you start building new memories now. Keep posting and reading.

I think he's a spoiled brat that is only sorry he got caught and isn't a good loser. Very childish!
I agree. And the Nike commercial was disgusting. That was it for me. I'll never pull for Tiger or buy Nike products. I'll bet Nike is regretting that move. The advertising firm probably was fired.
